Video Frame Extractor

Extract frames from a video as individual PNG or JPG images — at an interval or every frame — free and processed entirely in your browser.

About the Video Frame Extractor

Whether you need a thumbnail to pick from, reference frames for an art or animation project, or a set of stills for a presentation, pulling individual frames out of a video by hand — pausing, screenshotting, cropping — is slow. This tool extracts frames automatically, either at a time interval you choose or capturing every frame, and packages them all into a zip.

Choose PNG for lossless quality or JPG for smaller files, and download every extracted frame together. Everything runs locally in your browser using the Canvas API; your video is never uploaded to a server.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between interval extraction and "every frame"?

Interval extraction grabs one frame every N seconds — good for thumbnails or a quick overview. "Every frame" samples densely (~30 frames per second) — useful for animation reference, not a frame-perfect re-encode, and produces far more images.

Is there a limit on how many frames I can extract?

Yes — to keep processing and download size reasonable, extraction is capped at a maximum number of frames. If your chosen interval would exceed that on a long video, the interval is automatically widened to spread evenly across the full video instead of stopping partway through.

Should I choose PNG or JPG?

PNG gives lossless quality but larger files — better for further editing. JPG is much smaller and fine for previews, thumbnails, or sharing.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. Frame extraction happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API.
