SRT to VTT
Convert an SRT subtitle file to WebVTT, free and instant — conversion runs entirely in your browser, your file never leaves your device.
About the SRT to VTT Converter
SRT is the most common subtitle format, but web video players — including the HTML5 <track> element used natively by browsers — require WebVTT (.vtt) instead. This tool converts an SRT file to VTT, correctly reformatting timestamps and adding the required WEBVTT header, so it plays correctly in any web-based video player.
The conversion is lossless — your subtitle text and timing are preserved exactly, only the format structure changes. Everything runs locally in your browser; your file is never uploaded to a server.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's actually different between SRT and VTT?
VTT requires a "WEBVTT" header line and uses a period for milliseconds (00:00:01.000) where SRT uses a comma (00:00:01,000) — small differences, but enough that a player expecting one format will reject the other.
Will my subtitle timing or text change?
No — this is a lossless format conversion. Only the file structure changes to match VTT's requirements.
My converted file shows garbled or broken characters — why?
Your original SRT probably wasn't saved as UTF-8 (older SRT files are often Windows-1252 or similar) — accented letters and non-Latin scripts can come out garbled. Re-saving your source file as UTF-8 in a text editor before converting usually fixes this.
Is my subtitle file uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser.
