Compare PDFs

Compare two PDF files and highlight the text differences between them — free and processed entirely in your browser.

About Compare Two PDFs

Spotting what changed between two versions of a contract, report, or manuscript by eye is slow and error-prone, especially in a long document. This tool extracts the text from both PDFs and highlights exactly what was added, removed, or changed between them.

This compares text content, not visual layout — it won't flag a moved image or a font change, only differences in the actual words. Everything runs locally in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this compare visual layout, or just text?

Just text. It won't flag things like a moved image, a font change, or a layout shift with no text difference.

Will this work on scanned PDFs?

Only if they have a real embedded text layer — a pure image scan has nothing to compare, since there's no OCR step here.

How are differences shown?

Added text is highlighted one way, removed text another, so you can see at a glance what changed.

Are my documents uploaded anywhere?

No. Both extraction and comparison happen entirely in your browser.
